Please note that there will be no trash collection on Saturday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.
Residents are encouraged to hold their trash until the next scheduled collection day (Wednesday).
Please remember if you are disposing of spent fireworks over the holiday that they are not recyclable, and embers can smolder for many hours and spontaneously ignite.
Soak them: Completely submerge all used fireworks and misfired "duds" in a bucket of water. Leave them soaking overnight (for at least 12 to 24 hours) to extinguish any hidden embers.
Bag them: Drain the excess water. Double-wrap the wet fireworks in resealable plastic bags or heavy-duty trash bags to lock the moisture in. This stops them from drying out and the powdered chemicals from catching fire.
Bin them: Throw the wrapped bags of wet fireworks into your regular outdoor garbage bin.
We wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July!
