Harris-Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 1 (HFB MUD No. 1) has recently implemented a 10% general residence homestead exemption for homeowners within its District boundaries. This exemption reduces the taxable value of a homeowner's primary residence by 10%, thereby lowering the property tax liability. The exemption will be applied to residential homesteads for the 2025 tax year.
In addition to the general homestead exemption, HFB MUD No. 1 offers exemptions for homeowners aged 65 and over, as well as those with disabilities. These exemptions provide additional reductions in the property's taxable value, providing further tax relief to qualifying individuals. Specifically, the Over-65 and Disability Exemptions provide a $35,000 reduction in the appraised value of the property.
